But tbh… if that were true, who cares? Let the greedy spend their efforts on self interest if the outcome is widespread uplift. And a starting line drawn with bad intentions still starts a race that’s worth running, because we always have collective effort on our side to bring the pack to the correct finish line for all.
I think two things are true: (1) taxpayer-funded accounts for children may be a very good idea, and (2) naming them "Trump accounts" is scandalously misleading. Trump is not funding the accounts, taxpayers are. So, he is using taxpayer money for campaigning purposes. Can you imagine if Obama had used taxpayer money to send out checks signed by "Barack Obama"? I like that you are focused on the substance and finding common ground. I also think that the good idea can't get in the way of pointing out yet another abuse of power.
